Caesar

Meet Caesar
Our first view of the boy! He greeted us with curious caution.
This is where we discovered he had an untreated Rhinolith in his right nostril and began to assess his condition.

He was long overdue for a grooming. Some nails corkscrewed, and one curled back into his toe. We trimmed him up right away!

Old and arthritic, Caesar is unable to properly groom himself, so he had poor feather condition and a buildup of keratin. He has since had a full bath and looks lean, dark, and hansome!

The rhinolith blocking his nasal passages needed to be removed. Here is the view behind the buildup! It had broken through to his sinuses and needed a proper cleaning. Time for a visit to Medical Center for Birds!

The rhinolith itself- a calcified mass of debris and buildup over the course of many years. There was a less than pleasant smell to the mass.

Dr. Speer of Medical Center for Birds knew exactly what Caesar needed! As soon as he saw our boy, he pulled out the book he wrote, and turned to the section involving rhinoliths, which happened to depict a past patient of his- also an African Grey!

Checked in at Med Center, Caesar was set to have his nose cleaned, his body x-rayed, blood work tested, and a number of other diagnostic measures taken so we can get him what he needs to feel good again.

Successfully vetted, he was less than impressed by the whole ordeal and gave me the stink eye the whole way home. He's becoming a pro at car rides though!
Jovie

An elderly female cockatiel who was brought to us by a good samaritan after a man left the bird in her cage on the side of the road.

She has arthritis and prefers to nap rather than be bothered, but she eats well and has been known to enjoy a snuggle now and again!

Jovie now has a loving home with two other cockatiels, one of which is special needs too <3
